Architecture & Features
The physical frameworks, the historical and contemporary structures which surround us have a profound and far reaching impact on our lives and outlook. Architecture influences our mood, our disposition our attitudes. Often and frequently we take it for granted and only become aware of it consciously when it is new or something changes. Photographing architecture is not just about recording and documenting buildings it is about trying to distil some of their hidden influence. It's about understanding and recognising what a building contributes or hides.

Wells Cathedral - Central Nave
Wells Cathedral which escaped many of the ravages of the reformation is an incredible example or medieval architecture. The visually stunning scissor arches and the creativity and problem solving skills of the masons building on wet marsh land is a testament to their skills and abilities. In the month of January the chairs which usually fill the central nave are removed and for a short period of time the interior is returned to what its first incumbents would have experienced.

Egger Steam Chimney - Hexham
That's steam and lots of it, pouring out of Egger Ltd's steam chimney. I was lucky that morning the sun was perfectly framed behind the plume.
