Trying to reflect the essence of a performance in a photograph is challenging to say the very least. A performance might cover a myriad of states and emotions and picture captures a sliver of a microsecond. But sometimes you get lucky, something comes through in the picture that communicates and transmits some of the performer's energy and personality. When that happens it is immensely pleasing.
